This summer, a surf hostel in Portugal is probably the place you'll want to be. Let us explain why!
Carcavelos is one of the most wonderful surfing spots near Lisbon, with some world class waves and being a very popular beach. Yesterday this surf spot was the host of Cascais Surf à Noite, sponsored by Kia. It was not all surf, though, and plenty of activities were had on the sand.
The waves, though, were not willing to make this a great surfing day. This didn't matter to the children who had a one in a lifetime opportunity to receive a surfing lesson from some of the best surfers in Portugal, such as Manuel Sá Pessoa, Afonsto Lopes, Tiago Teotónio Pereira, Alex Botelho, Tomás Valente, Pedro Henrique, Pedro Boonman, João Moreira and Luca Guichard, and the experience will hopefully have a long lasting effect on all.
Cascais Surf Night:
With the boards on land, the skating competition was the highlight during the day, until nightfall when the pro surfers went to into a still rather calm sea with their LED-filled surfboards ready to make a show those around wouldn't forget so soon. The beach was by that time already filled to the brim. The waves were absolutely a no-show, but thanks to the helpful assistance of the water craft and the skill of the surfers involved, the show certainly was worth it, topping it up with plenty of aerial manoeuvres, although these lacked the splendor they might have had, should the swell have been greater.
The event itself though lived a lot of all the other activities that were on offer during the whole day.
With the Cascais Surf à Noite, the surfing summer is gearing up and there will be plenty more of events making it worth while to visit a surf hostel in Portugal for a rewarding surfing vacation. Just plan your trip and chose one from the many surf hostels in Portugal.
