Portugal’s first Surf Market will take place in Matosinhos, near Oporto. Called «Surf in Matosinhos Market», the event, a partnership with Matosinhos City Hall, will happen in June, near Oporto. Matosinhos is one of the best surfspots in Portugal.
Organizers say this is going to be an innovative event worldwide and it will be used to release and promote trade marks and products – new or existing ones - closer to their specific public. Surf in Matosinhos will also promote surfspots in Portugal, mainly in the north, as well as services and hosting, all related to surf and the region, in a relaxed environment, typical of surf.

Surf Market is also a powerful marketing tool, as it will be a space for debate, networking for the national surf industry, promotion and innovation. The event will involve several industry associations, public and private institutions and the media.
The idea is also to celebrate the unity of all regional surf community, like surf entrepreneurs, athletes ou simply fans. Among the activities programmed for this event, they will have DJs, performances, surf stock off, new and second hand sales (clothes, shoes, accessories and several articles for surfing, bodyboard, longboard, kitesurf and windsurf).

It will also have training sessions, surf/beach fashion parades, skate, transports, food and many other activities. In Surf in Matosinhos there will also be a photo exhibit named «Oporto Surf Guide – North Surf different views», in which famous surf photographers will participate like Ricardo Faustino, Pikas, Cr Lima or Daniela Carneiro.
The event will end with the Surf North Awards by Oporto Surf Guide ceremony. There will be four classes to award, namely Surf Open, Surf Grom, Bodyboard Open and Bodyboard Grom.
Surf in Matosinhos Market has three ambassadors, namely the following regional surfers: Andreia Pereira, Carlos Gouveia and Elohe Alvarez.
